The Hastings Law Journal gladly considers unsolicited manuscripts by members of the legal community. The Journal reviews submissions two times a year, in February and August. Please submit your manuscript online via Scholastica. In addition to articles, the Journal welcomes essays, speeches, responses, and other forms of scholarly publications.
The Hastings Law Journal is no longer accepting submissions for Volume 67. We will resume the article selection process in February 2016.
The Hastings Law Journal is pleased to announce that we will now be exclusively accepting submissions via Scholastica. Scholastica is a new article submissions platform that boasts a modern design and easier-to-navigate layout. Please click the link below to submit your article on Scholastica.
Submissions should be double-spaced, typewritten, with citations in either footnote or endnote style. We prefer articles that are under 30,000 words, including text and footnotes.
Citations should conform to The Bluebook (20th ed. 2015).
All submissions should be accompanied by a cover letter and a brief abstract. All necessary contact information should also be included.
In the event an author is presented with a deadline from another publication, we will make every effort to expedite review of their work. Unfortunately, we will only be able to expedite review during the school year (mid-August through mid-May).
To request an expedited review, please do so on Scholastica or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Expedite requests should include the author’s name, the title of the article, the name(s) of the offering journal(s), and the deadline date.
